Hello there, I am the Jersey City Photographer, Miranda Suess and in this blog post, I am going to share my review on why I love the ArcLight Eyelighter Reflector II by Glow.

The Setup

***

I tried the ArcLight II eyelighter for the first time at a headshot portrait session and I have to say the setup was pretty tricky. It took me about 30 minutes to complete the full install. The Glow reflector kit does NOT include a tripod/lightstand but that’s ok because I have a few extra in my office. The one I have in the instagram video/reel shown above is found on Amazon here.

The Photo Quality

*****

I tried the ArcLight II eyelighter for the first time at a headshot portrait session and I have to give it a five star rating on the photo quality. Like wow, I cannot imagine photographing someone’s headshots without the Glow Arclight Eyelighter Reflector from here on out. Despite the difficult setup, I looked past it because of how the photos turned out. I imagine overtime I will get faster at setup as it wouldn’t bother me much anymore. Keep scrolling to see the final photos from the beauty headshot session using the Eyelighter.

I love the sparkle effect of the eye lighter’s reflection in the model’s eyes. Do you see it? Look closely!

The Photographer Review

As a headshot photographer in New Jersey - I believe that every headshot and portrait photographer should own an eye lighter reflector, especially the ArcLight 2 by Glow. Although I gave the setup 3 stars, please look past that and consider the photo quality will be outstanding and overtime setting up the eye lighter will become easier.

The Headshot Photographer Gear List

I recommend that you setup your lighting high at a 45 degree angle and above the eyelighter aiming at it . My light setup & full gear list for beauty headshot portraiture is as follows:

More about the Arc Light II Eye Lighter

  • A BOON FOR PORTRAIT, FASHION AND BEAUTY PHOTOGRAPHY: The curve of the photo reflector focuses the source light and equalizes the catchlight into an unbroken band. The contour enhances the magic of youthful vibrancy and the sensation of a healthy glowing complexion, achieves the illustrative goal of fashion, portrait, and beauty photographers

  • CREATES SEAMLESS CATCHLIGHTS IN THE EYE: Eyes seem to sparkle, wrinkles blend into softness, while textures diminish, and skin radiates with subtle tones. The sphere of the eye catches a brilliant arc of light, the signature of the beauty reflector photography

  • SILVER, GOLD AND WHITE FABRIC REFLECTORS INCLUDED to customize your photography light reflector set. These fabrics are interchangeable with a clever wrap and zip system to speed photo sessions along for beauty reflector photography

  • SILVER FABRIC REFLECTOR focuses the source light and equalizes the catchlight into an unbroken band, without additional light sources

  • WHITE FABRIC REFLECTOR is more subtle, smoother skin tones and less distinct catchlight results, quite noticeable in the sphere of the eye from this bounce reflector

  • WAVE GOLD FABRIC throws a warm bronzing glow into the skin, simulating the right touch of a sunlit environment from this clamshell light reflector

  • ADJUSTABLE BASE BRACKET tilts to the optimum angle making it an ideal portrait reflector

  • COLLAPSABLE REFLECTOR: Arclight II assembles and packs up quickly and easily, the most convenient collapsible photography reflector
